Cultivation of Marijuana

Edmonds Marijuana Cultivation Defense Attorney

Confused about marijuana cultivation rules?

Recent legislation regulating the possession, distribution and cultivation of marijuana use has led to confusion. While marijuana is a controlled substance under Federal law and subject to criminal prosecution, Washington State legislators have taken a different view. Have you been charged with manufacturing, possession or distribution of marijuana? Let me help.

I founded Johanson Law Group, Inc. in order to provide superior legal services to those facing life changing criminal charges. I have 25 years of experience both as a prosecutor and a defense attorney. This experience has given me deep insight into both sides of case development and presentation. With recent changes specifically relating to marijuana use, possession and cultivation there is a good chance that with the right strategy, your charges can be dismissed. Contact us immediately for a complimentary case evaluation if you are facing charges related to the cultivation of marijuana, either for personal use or for medical marijuana supply.

Marijuana Cultivation in Washington State

Initiative Measure 502 (I-502) was passed in November 2012, and changed the law concerning personal marijuana use. It went into effect December 6, 2012. It is now legal to possess an ounce of marijuana for personal use but it is not legal to grow marijuana for your own personal use. This new law did not change medical marijuana laws concerning cultivation. It is still legal to cultivate up to 15 plants for medical marijuana use.

Regulations governing how licenses will be distributed for growers and retail outlets are currently being developed. Legislators have until December 1, 2013 to complete regulations that will create a system for selling, producing and processing marijuana. If you are facing charges, I will need to review the facts of your case in order to provide you with my assessment of your case. My goal is to help you to avoid conviction. The earlier I get involved, the better it could be for you in your case. Call now.
