A criminal record can limit your freedoms and opportunities. Depending on the nature of your past convictions, you may be unable to get certain jobs or receive certain financial benefits. An expungement may enable you to clear your criminal record and regain such privileges that would otherwise remain inaccessible.
In order to expunge your record, you must meet the following requirements:
- Complete the terms of your sentence
- Wait the amount of time determined by your crime
- Maintain a clean criminal record
- Receive no additional restraining orders
- Have no other charges pending
You cannot gain an expungement for a Class A felony, sex crime, violent crime, or DUI. In addition, you cannot clear a misdemeanor if you have already expunged a misdemeanor or felony from your record.
Applying for an expungement is a difficult and complex process. Contact the experienced Edmonds criminal defense attorney from Johanson Law Group, Inc. for the legal guidance you need.
